Mark L. Wilt
The Post is named in respect of Mark L. Wilt, a local citizen who was killed on November 2, 1918, while serving his country in France near the end of World War I.
Mark was born August 6, 1894 in Jerome, Michigan. He moved with his family to Goshen, Indiana in 1910, where he assisted his father, Wilson Wilt, who owned a grocery store in Goshen. Mark would often make home deliveries using his bicycle, and that soon became the trademark of the store. Mark graduated from Goshen High School in 1914. In 1915, he entered the American School of Osteopathy at Kirksville, MO. In 1918, he took his state board examination and passed. On April 20, 1918 he entered the service as a Missouri National Army Contingent. Mark was killed in action during World War I. Mark was also a member of the First Reformed Church and belonged to the Iota Tau Sigma Medical fraternity.
